Whoa! Didn’t expect that Daria doodle to get viewed by more than two people. Thanks for the reblog, fuckyeadaria! (And thank you everyone for the likes!)
this is where I dump all the dribblings I'm too embarrassed to post in my normal blog. this includes "art," attempts at stream-of-consciousness writing and other brain-farts. stay for the ride if you wish, though I make no assurances of quality. Come at me bro!
Things I didn’t immediately do upon my return home from an intense, hazy weekend in New York:
- Unpack my bags.
- Change out of my gross bus clothes.
- Unpack the boxes in my room (moving day was Sept. 1, and I skedaddled off to NY the day after).
- Pee even though my bladder is crying out in excruciating pain.
Things I did instead:
- Draw “value studies” of Sherlock (what did I do to his lips/nose/face??) and John (whom I
usuallyalways have a really hard time drawing).
I cropped the sketch to hide my absurdly bad sketch of Martin Freeman/John below, because I made him look like a ghoul. I still can’t get his wide-eyed look down (among many other things, sigh) but it’s…a work in progress.
Oh sweet jesus, first doodle in forever and of course it doesn’t look a damn thing like who it’s supposed to. (WHY DOES HE LOOK LIKE HE IS PREPUBESCENT?)
Potential Alistair redesign, for my little bumblebee Maddy-boo. I was thinking that it might be interesting to make him less genteel-looking than we originally designed (I mainly wanted an excuse to draw a knobbly-looking nose), since he already embarrasses his daddy anyway with all that profligate behavior. What if Woolie was the one who ended up with all the aquiline features?
So much for four speedpaints a week, huh?
In other news: still can’t use Painter IX’s watercolour tools for my life.
Jesus, how sad is it that this Painter IX speedy is my first piece of completed work in over a year and a half?! I don’t think I’ve picked up my tablet—or my watercolours, for that matter—since early 2008, which obviously hasn’t helped me any. What if I lose what little ability I had?!
This artistic atrophy is unacceptable. I need to start doing daily speedpaints—I ought to shoot for at least four a week, perhaps?
Another oldie, this time from 2006. “How Strange, Innocence.” While I don’t listen to Explosions in the Sky anymore, I still stand by my title.
Inaugurating my new “creative” blog with (for lack of anything new to post) a piece of ancient artwork. Fact: I seriously need to start drawing again, because if I don’t, it’ll only be downhill from here.
